I know what it’s like to avoid mirrors and dread stepping on the scale.Growing up overweight, I struggled with self confidence and being comfortable in my own skin. I often turned to food for comfort, even when I wasn’t physically hungry. My relationship with food became unhealthy and I told myself I would always stay this way.

In 2017, I was severely overweight and found myself at 72kg. I started punishing my body by restricting my calories and doing tons of cardio... It worked, and I had lost 12 kg within 4 months.I worked so hard to lose the weight, yet I still didn’t feel comfortable in my own skin and was perhaps even more unhappy. I had lost the curves that once made me feel more feminine.Instead of feeling fitter, I grew weaker and more exhausted. My body took a toll and my ankles ached from endless treadmill and my energy plummeted. I felt miserable every time I turned down social events because of the fear of eating "unhealthy" food. It was an endless cycle of restriction and unhappiness that made me feel that what I was doing wasn't healthy or sustainable in the long run.

Everything changed when I discovered strength training. Instead of punishing my body, I started rebuilding my body and my mindset towards fitness. I fell in love with lifting weights, getting stronger, leaner and better every single day. I had found the confidence I thought I had lost forever.That journey inspired me to become an ACE-certified personal trainer so others don't have to face the same struggle like me.As a female personal trainer in Singapore, I carry those experiences with me which helps shapes my coaching. I understand the fear of the scale, to feel out of place in a gym, and to finally discover the freedom of truly loving the body you have. My coaching philosophy is fitness as a sustainable lifestyle - training that fits your lifestyle, reach your fitness goals, and empowers you to feel strong and confident every single day.
